Preventative Maintenance and Start- up for their Cornelius Juice Machine

Hi All,

On October 1st, I completed a service at Tufts University in Sommerville, Massachusetts.  Since the beginning of COVID-19, Tuft’s had shut down one of their dispenser. However, now they called Donastar to help restart their machines, as COVID restrictions have been lifted. My mission for the trip was to perform a Preventative Maintenance and Start- up for their Cornelius Juice Machine, which was a Quest Elite 4000. There is a picture attached at the bottom of the blog.

On site, the first thing I realized is that the machine dispensed flavored water and not juice. When performing the PM, I replaced the mixing chambers and the nozzles as they had gone missing from the dispenser since it hadn’t been used for some time. I also replaced the rubber grommets for the juice box and the o-rings. Next, I sanitized out the interior juice lines with a sanitizing cartridges. To sanitize, I used kay-5 sanitizer. With the kay-5, I ran the solution through each one of the nozzles and let soak for the appropriate time. Afterwards, I refilled the ice bath to the optimal level and confirmed that the temperature of the interior dispenser was cold.

Finally, once the machine was sanitized and the missing pieces were replaced, I got new flavor cartridges and placed them in the dispenser. Next, I calibrated each flavor accordingly and tested it to confirm the ratio.I had the customer try all the flavors as well to ensure satisfaction. Once that was done, the machine was ready to be used by students, visitors, and the staff at Tufts.
